Kid Drop Zone
Update: Kid Drop Zone is out of business. See here.
Kid Drop Zone is a large indoor playground where parents can drop off their kids for a few hours. Parents have the options to drop and go, stay and play, or just hang out in our parents-only room. Inside, kids will find a themed constructed play area featuring things to climb up, jump on, slide down, or swing from. All staff is CPR and First Aid certified and full background checks are run on everyone prior to employment.
The birthday party package includes one hour playtime and one hour in the private party room. During the birthday party, the center remains open so there may be additional drop off kids there.
Parties include:
* Juice
* Birthday themed paper products
* Party attendant
* Birthday cake (flavor and party theme of choice) provided by Cakes By Shelby
* Goodie bags
* T-shirt for the birthday child

Wow so fun so good.It was a birthday surprise.I slid down that like that hill fast and fun.It felt like flying.I was souring threw the sky. But
I’m all ways worried about safety. But I was as safe as i could be as they put the safety rope on me.
we ate pizza and cake. Every one sing happy b-day to me it was the best b-day party ever.
the price increase actually only affects the first child. Most other places around charge $8 or $9/child with no discount for siblings (and no option to drop off and hit the grocery store). I have 3 kids and it costs me $20/hr for all 3. In fact, since they offer the $20 pass for all day play for the family, I never have to shell out more than $20 in a day anyway.
I wasn’t excited about the higher prices, but it’s still the best value around IMHO.
Price Increase Warning – I like Kid Drop Zone but not for $10 an hour per kid. There are so many free or less expensive places. When it was only $3 an hour it was well worth it and I even drove 30 minutes to get there. The price increase is ridiculous especially since it is the same price regardless if you leave your kids there to be watched by their staff or if you stay and supervise your own kids. The management is very nice and the staff is great – but again at $10 an hour PER kid it is not so nice on the wallet.
I just wanted to say that i was at the party the lady above me was at, and what she stated was completely false. It was not the staff’s choice to play “dodgeball” it was requested and demanded by the mom and the birthday boy. Her little girl did not get “wrestled to the ground”, her little girl was collecting all the balls in a basket and throwing them at the staff. One staff member PLAYFULLY took the basket from her. The girl started crying and ran off and told her mother. The lady overreacted and threatened to hurt a member of the staff. In a nutshell the lady overreacted.
I just returned from a child’s birthday party and had to leave early due to the abuse the staff was inflicting on the kids. The party started out well. Then pizza came and the staff was zero help in gathering the kids to go sit and eat. For a group of 30 they had one assist while three sat around and did nothing. Not worth the money. After pizza they started a “dodgeball” game where they took foam fruit pieces and threw them at each other. It started out fine, but then the staff decided they were going to play too. The adults throw a lot harder than the nine year olds and they threw high towards the heads. My daughter had some pieces in a basket she was collecting so she could hunker down and throw them but a staff member wrestled her to the ground and ripped the basket from her hands. She told me this happened two other times that I didn’t see. There is no way I’m going to let an adult who is being PAID to supervise the kids abuse them in such a manner. I left early and will never return to this place. Unless they change their staff do NOT leave your children there. I wish I could give this place negative stars.
Drop Zone is awesome for all ages! My toddler (1 1/2) loved it! She adventurously rolled and jumped and bounced her way down the mattresses over and over, spent tons of time playing with the magnets in the magentic painted room (great idea for a kids room btw!!!), and enjoyed sometime on the swing.
The drop zone is pretty basic looking when you walk in, but has everything your child needs to have a great time and get all tired out, which is always nice! The low low cost makes it possible to go frequently without breaking the bank!
My kids play at Kid Drop Zone as often as I will take them there. I am sure they would live there, if possible. The staff is extremely energetic; they play, they sing, they dance, they draw with the kids. When I need a safe, secure place for the kids to go, after school, on the weekend, on rainy days, when they are bored, we alway consider Kid Drop Zone. This is a “FANTASTIC” place for Haymarket and Gainesville, and we are lucky to have this indoor playground available.
As far as safety, Kid Drop Zone is safer than any outdoor playground we have ever been to. We as parents need to make sure our kids understand the safety rules, wherever they are.
As my son says “Kid Drop Zone ROCKS!” – Especially T(w)een Night.
My concern is with all the soft materials–bedding, clothing, and pillows–do they wash all of this stuff every single night? If not, then I have concerns about hygiene.
My 6 year old got hurt on the zip line before I even got in to the play area…I was filling out the paperwork. Then the 4 year old got hurt on the spiral staircase. And my 2 year old needed constant supervision so she wasn’t run over by the older kids (up to age 12) or didn’t try any of the things that were too dangerous for her age…slide, zip line, swing, stairs. That left only the king size mattress for her to jump on, and that got old pretty quick. Plus I’m a bit paranoid about head lice so I was trying to keep her from laying down on all the soft stuff. I would not recommend “dropping off” any child younger than age 4. I also saw a girl age about 10-11 get off the swing and run into the wall because she was dizzy, hitting her head pretty hard on the wall. A 1:10 adult to child ratio really isn’t that good…would you leave ten children with one babysitter?
The concept is fantastic. It’s hard to find a place around here that allows you to drop in on the weekends, and not reserved for birthday parties. But, Kid Drop Zone is still a bit rough around the edges having been open for just a couple months.
My first issue is safety. The rope slide area is covered with mattresses, but there are gaps between them and I can it being a problem. Also, the swing area is exposed and little kids can easily walk into the swing on their way to the water fountain. The spiral stairs are another concern.
Bottom line, I wouldn’t let a kid under age 3 walk around on their own. But overall, this is a great idea a long time coming. I’m sure it’ll improve over time.
